Manuel Luben Lozano to Coach Women's Soccer

The Cougars are excited to announce Manuel Luben Lozano will coach the women’s soccer team! Luben Lozano brings 25+ years coaching experience at various levels of soccer. He highlights technical proficiency, tactical awareness, mental resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship. He was raised in Honduras, where his two sisters remained after he moved to Canada in 2012. He started playing soccer at a young age, working his way up to playing at a competitive level in Division 3.


“I’ve been following both the Cougars soccer teams for years and this is a dream come true to get the opportunity to influence and lead the women’s team,” said Luben Lozano.

Luben Lozano is a soccer official in the Westman region and completed the requirements for his C licesne coaching level. Just two months ago he furthered his knowledge with a trip to Spain to complete his Level 1 Coach Development Program through the Villarreal Club de Fútbol Coaching Academy.

“Manuel has an undeniable passion for the game and a strong vision for the team,” said Athletics Manager Lindsay McLaughlin. “He emphasizes team culture and character development which aligns with our goals in Cougars athletics. He has experiences in the sport that span the world and we look forward to the future of women’s soccer with him at the helm.”
