Bryce Nemetchek has committed to the Cougars men’s soccer team for the 2023 fall.

Nemetchek is a 5’7” goal keeper from Swan River, Manitoba where he attended Swan Valley Regional Secondary Shool and is on pace to achieve honor roll status upon graduating. Soccer has been a focal point in his life since starting to play the game at the age of seven. Swan River has a solid soccer program, starting from the grass roots and providing athletes in the area an opportunity to continue playing competitively. Nemetchek played for the Swan Valley Tigers and only conceded one goal in the 2021 season. That same season, Tigers coach Paul Terry introduced Nemetchek to Cougars coach Chris McLachlan at zone playoffs in Dauphin. In 2022, the team placed second in the Manitoba High School Athletics Association AAA Provincials. Nemetchek was selected player of the game and achieved 6 clean sheets in 13 games leading up to provincials.

“I’m really looking forward to attending the college in the fall,” said Nemetchek. “I’m hoping to not only learn from my peers on the soccer team but be a great contribution and asset to the team.”

“Bryce is an athletic keeper. At the A-AAA Provincial Championships his timely saves were instrumental in getting his team to the final,” said Cougars coach Chris McLachlan. “We look forward to the luxury of having two capable keepers in our line-up next season.”

Nemetchek will be taking the colleges carpentry and woodworking program in the fall. This skill and passion runs in his family as he will make the third generation carpenter.
