Assiniboine Community College’s Continuing Studies department is excited to launch its new Winter Guide, linking learners to in-person and online education opportunities.

The course guide is entirely digital, full of courses and programs for those looking to add a new credential or competency to their resume, prepare for a change in careers, or explore a new hobby.

Many of the college’s Continuing Studies online courses are delivered in partnership with academic organizations including UGotClass and Ed2Go. Through these partnerships, Assiniboine offers more than 200 courses across a range of topics including how to produce a podcast, learn Spanish, or gain skills in leadership, communication, and varying levels of Microsoft software.

“Over the past year, we’ve seen a 308 per cent increase in enrollments alone through our short online courses offered through Ed2go at Assiniboine,” said Tannis James, Director of Continuing Studies at Assiniboine. “Online programs and courses are designed to meet students where they can get the most from their experience.”

Taylor Carvey, an Assiniboine student who is completing the Graphic Design Software Essentials, expressed her delight at the ease of program structure and access.

“The online program I am currently enrolled in is easy to use and I love that I can work at my own pace. It provides the flexibility I need while also being a stay-at-home mom. The notes and discussion groups are great, and allow me to have questions answered quickly. I will definitely be looking into more online classes in the future,” said Carvey.

New to the winter guide are Assiniboine’s Skill Suite courses, an exciting new range of business skills-related short online courses. These flexible courses, offered in collaboration with our academic partner, Ed2go, are designed to augment existing skills. These Skill Suites were packaged based on feedback from industry, covering a range of business-related skills, for example there are Skill Suites for developing skills in: Leadership, Business Essentials, Intro to Project Management, Management Essentials, Customer Service, Workplace Communication, and Microsoft Office.

The Continuing Studies department’s new digital guide simplifies the research process for students, making it easy to click on programs and details throughout the guide and be taken directly to relevant webpages for more information.
