Partnership brings open Wi-Fi to ACC campuses

ACC is now more connected than ever, thanks to a partnership with Westman Communications Group (WCG).

The two are joining to deliver free public Wi-Fi access at ACC’s campuses in Brandon and Dauphin. The college currently has secure Wi-Fi available for students and staff using private account credentials to log on.

“We want our campuses to be community spaces that people enjoy visiting,” said ACC President Mark Frison. “Having free accessible and reliable Wi-Fi is critical to that experience and we are pleased to partner with Westman Communications Group to provide this service.”

As a co-operative, we are always pleased to provide more services to our members and the communities that we operate in. The extension of Wi-Fi services to everybody, beyond our membership, reflects our Co-operative values and Westman's strong relationship with ACC said Dave Baxter, President and CEO of Westman Communications Group.

Guests can connect their device quickly and easily without the need for a username and password. There is no time limit set for the connection; users can surf at their leisure without worrying about constraints on their access while on campus for sporting activities, workshops and other events.

The partnership between ACC and WCG is longstanding. Students in the college’s Interactive Media Arts program produce and deliver Brandon’s only TV newscast through WCG TV three times a week from November to March.

Students also gain valuable experience working inside WCG TV mobile units throughout the academic year and through co-op work placements.
