President pledges $50k as part of National Philanthropy Day

Charity begins at home. At least, that is the philosophy of Assiniboine Community College employees.

In celebration of National Philanthropy Day, held annually on November 15, Assiniboine president Mark Frison and his wife, Edith, made a $50,000 pledge to the college today. Appointed president in 2010, Frison has previously donated to the Foundation’s Building on Demand, Growing the Greenhouse and Simulation Mannequins campaigns.

We are thrilled with the leadership president Frison has shown on giving, and to the institution generally, said Tammy Johannson, president of the ACC Foundation and owner of Brandon Speech & Language Clinic.

ACC employees have pledged more than $54,000 to the Foundation over the past two years. The number of ACC employees who give to the Foundation has risen from 42 in 2013 to 152 in 2015.

We are extremely appreciative of the gifts by employees. It shows they really believe in what the Foundation is doing to support students, added Morley Rollins, from Westside Plumbing and Heating. Morley is an alumnus of the college and chairs the Foundation’s Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries Committee.

More than 90 per cent of ACC employee gifts are targeted to financial supports for students.
