Dante Wilson, a 6’4 setter/right side, will play for the Cougars in the fall.

Wilson is a local talent, born and raised in Brandon, where he currently attends Vincent Massey High School, playing volleyball for the Vikings. Wilson grew up in the gym with his father, Bryce Wilson, coaching various levels of school and club volleyball throughout his lifetime. Bryce continues to coach as an assistant with the Brandon University men’s program and head coached the Cougars’ women’s team back in 2014/15.

Volleyball was a natural choice for Wilson and his siblings—two sisters and a brother all having played school and club volleyball. Wilson started playing volleyball at the club level when he was just twelve years old. His history in the sport has helped him to develop good court awareness and a high volleyball IQ.

“I’m looking forward to getting on the court and competing at the next level,” said Wilson. “I want to be a part of the Cougars winning an MCAC title.”

Wilson is not only a skilled player but has developed into a leader on the court as well. He’s served as captain of his high school and club volleyball teams the last three seasons.

“Dante brings size and skill to the setter position. He has a high volleyball IQ and has developed into a high level setter,” said Cougars coach Joel Small. “He has the ability to run a smooth and effective offense and shows a never lose attitude every time he steps on the court.”

Wilson is joining familiar faces on the Cougar men’s roster, having played with Cougars middle blocker Josh Budach and fellow recruit and left side, Zane Dyck.

Wilson will be taking the college’s Business Administration program in the fall.
