The Cougars Women’s Volleyball program continues to add depth to their 2020-21 team with the signing of a new recruit, Mackenzie Zatylny.

Zatylny is a 5’9” left side from Gilbert Plains and was named MVP at the Manitoba Volleyball Provincials this past December, where she helped lead the Trojans to their third straight provincial title.

Cougars coaching staff are impressed with Zatylny’s volleyball success and skills, confident she will be an asset to the team.

“We invited Mackenzie to our prospect camp last summer, and the coaching staff was very impressed with her skills,” says Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Maxwell.“She also brings a background of winning; she won the provincial championship all four years of her high school career”.

Maxwell says that a strong player like Zatylny will enhance the team’s competitive edge. “We watched her play at the recent 18U club tournament in Brandon, and she stood out against the top players in Manitoba”.

The draw for Zatylny to Assiniboine Community College was the fast-growing volleyball program. “I am nervous about going to college and a different school, but I’m excited to extend my volleyball career after high school”.

After receiving multiple offers from surrounding college’s and universities, Mackenzie decided Assiniboine Community College was the right fit for her.

Zatylny has been accepted into the college’s Office Management program for the upcoming fall and will commence her studies in the 2020-21 academic year.
