Tattoos are quite common, yet many tattooed people still report covering them at work. This presentation covers prevalence of tattoos, common stereotypes of tattooed individuals, how these perceptions play a role in hiring and on-the-job treatment of tattooed individuals, and tattooed employees' experiences. Drawing on research in organizational and social psychology, it invites critically thinking about professional expectations and why tattoos can be positive.
