R&M Homes is looking for a qualified Estimator to join our team, playing a key role in the construction industry in Manitoba
Qualifications
• Develop estimates in accordance with company procedures including takeoff & pricing of residential construction
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors & suppliers
• Maintain relationships with a variety of subcontractors, and cultivate new potential subs as required
• Determine general expenses and provide input into margins/fees
• Identify inherent risk and opportunities including strategies to create a competitive edge
• Work with clients to provide insight into their building project, as required
• Participate in construction meetings and ongoing meetings with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring a diverse labour pool and competitive material pricing
• Participate in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, control estimate development and delivery
• Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference
• Issue purchase orders and change orders throughout the building process
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs for future reference
• Visit job sites to complete the scope of work, analyze blueprints and preliminary plans, and complete accurate material take-offs
Qualifications
• 2 years of experience working as an Estimator, related education, or extensive experience as a field manager in residential construction with a desire to take the next step in your career
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Multi-tasker who is able to prioritize projects and produce high-quality work under time constraints
• Ability to understand technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong written and oral communication skills
