Engineering Technologist – Native Plant Solutions (Winnipeg, MB)

Overview

The Opportunity
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), Canada’s leader in wetland conservation, is looking for a confident, energetic and dedicated Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) to join our team in Manitoba.

This position will support DUC’s revenue generating branch, Native Plant Solutions (www.nativeplantsolutions.ca). In this role, you will be an integral player in the design, construction and commissioning of constructed upland and wetland projects. This role requires practical experience with water control structures and a strong understanding of heavy civil construction including earth moving. Experience in directing machinery and supervising hired equipment would be an asset. The ideal candidate will also have practical experience in CAD design and GPS surveying in combination with a keen interest in biology.

You need to be an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work with anyone, is capable of seeing the bigger picture and enjoys thinking out of the box. You are an effective communicator who is able to build positive working relationships.

You possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. You have demonstrated expertise in project planning, cost estimating, contract management, and contractor supervision. You are self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment and can manage numerous projects, and contractors, on tight deadlines.

Your minimum five years of experience, related knowledge and academic achievements in the engineering field make you the ideal candidate for this position.

Qualifications

Requirements
• A civil engineering technology diploma and eligibility for registration as a C.E.T. in Canada;
• Strong planning, reporting and project management skills;
• Knowledge of engineering design, hydrology and construction involving heavy equipment;
• Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, and GPS surveying;
• Mechanical aptitude;
• Awareness of provincial Occupational Health and Safety practices in western Canada;
• Knowledge of government (Federal, Provincial and Municipal) regulations and approvals process is considered an asset;
• Excellent organization, interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written;
• A valid class 5 driver’s license;
• Ability to work long/flexible hours, and travel as required.
• Ability to oversee the completion of wetland construction projects in western Provinces may be required from time to time.
• The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
Salary
• Salary to be commensurate with experience.
