1. Responsibilities: The successful candidates will be responsible for completing a variety of field surveys which could include mammal tracking, amphibian surveys, breeding bird surveys (with recorder), reptile surveys, data entry, data analysis and reporting.
2. Terms: Includes several seven-month positions from the beginning of April 2023 to October 2023 and several four-month positions from May 2023 to the end of August 2023.

Qualifications

3. Minimum Qualifications: (Education): Students or graduates enrolled in environmental/biology-based programs, Technical College Diploma (Major in Natural Resource based program) or University degree (Bachelor of Science or Environmental Science). A Master's Degree in an environmental field would be considered an asset. (Certifications) The successful candidate will be in possession of a Class 5 Driver's licence and have valid First Aid/CPR training. Candidate must be willing to have criminal background check conducted for perspective clients. Training in navigational aids and songbird identification through song/calls and/or observations would be an asset.
4. Experience: Collection of environmental data, courses in mammalogy, ornithology, environmental sciences, and experience using Microsoft excel and word.
5. Selection Criteria (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Wildlife Technician: (1) Physically capable of hiking long distances (daily) over difficult terrain; (2) Skill in effective verbal and written communication; (3) Skill in data entry and recording information electronically; (4) Ability to deal effectively with co-workers; (5) Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; (6) Ability to make decisions and works under limited supervision; (7) Ability to function in a team environment and be an effective team member; (8) Ability to make decisions and work under general supervision.
