Gaa Gii Kweng Program Foster Home Support Worker
Overview
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the worker will be responsible to work as part of a team in delivering a full range of services and support for foster parents. This is a one year term position.
Recruitment, orientation, and licensing of foster homes.
Provides comprehensive support and training services to specialized foster parents.
Provides crisis management services for foster parents.
Working cooperatively and effectively with case managers and foster child’s home community.
Works cooperatively and effectively as part of the Gaa Gii Kweng Program’s service delivery team.
Qualifications
Post secondary degree in a related discipline and at least one year related experience preferably in First Nations Child & Family Services. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Must have a working knowledge of the CFS Act of Manitoba and the programs/agencies that serve First Nations foster children in on-reserve and off-reserve settings.
Knowledge of the CFSIS system or willingness to learn
Knowledge of and appreciation for Ojibway culture and aspirations are essential.
Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
Must have good presentation skills, knowledge of delivering workshops, and experience in working with adult learners.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to speak Ojibway will be considered a definite asset.
Must have computer training and/or knowledge of Microsoft Office
