Habitat Conservation Technician - summer position

Overview

MHHC is seeking a highly motivated student to fill the, four to six month summer term, Habitat Conservation Technician position in Brandon, Manitoba.
As the Habitat Conservation Technician, you will:
• Work closely with the Habitat Stewardship Specialist and MHHC Program Delivery Team.
• Collect and analyze field survey data, including baseline habitat surveys and soil carbon sampling.
• Support the development and drafting of Baseline Documentation Reports (BDR) for MHHC’s Conservation Agreement Programs.
• Maintain an up-to-date BDR tracking system
• Provide GIS and Mapping support to MHHC staff.
• Assist in the installation of project signs.
• Work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
• Operate MHHC equipment in a safe and responsible manner
You and Your Experience:
• Must be a student in an accredited post-secondary Environmental, Agricultural, or related science program.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license required
• Have experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should have excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
• Must be available to work flexible hours and have strong work ethic.

Assets would be:
• Have knowledge and experience in ArcMap and GIS.
• Experience operating an ATV and towing trailers.
• First-Aid training.
