Pipefitter

Overview

BASIC PURPOSE

Works with the Superintendent to coordinate the day-to-day activities at the construction site and helps to ensure that the project is completed on time, safely, on budget, and according to specifications. Will be required to work on the tools and will be expected to train and mentor other tradespersons working for the Company.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES

Utilizes safe work practices and promote safety policies to others. Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
Responsible for safe and conscientious use of equipment including forklift, scissor lifts, and power tools.
Proficient in safe methods of hoisting, rigging, and scaffold erection.
Proficient in material take offs.
Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals, or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair pressurized piping systems.
Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
Supervises labourers and resources as required for a specific task.
Teaches and trains junior workers to develop trade related skills.
Owns and maintains trade tools as required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all business interactions and strives to meet customer needs in a creative and safe manner.
Pleasant demeanour with an ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks while working within a team environment.
Appropriate level of experience as a Pipefitter.
Enrolled in Apprenticeship program. Journeyperson status is an asset.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
Must be able to work a 21/7 work rotation.
Knowledge of winter construction techniques and ability to work in cold weather.
Knowledge and ability to assemble and commission mechanical systems is an asset.
Ability to install, examine, diagnose, and adjust various types of industrial and mechanical equipment is an asset.
Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and bending of pipes, valves, and fittings.

OTHER INFORMATION
Extended travel within Western Canada.
May be involved in multiple projects at a time.
Position will involve considerable extended time away from home.
