The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba is a community-engaged and inclusive contemporary art gallery located in
downtown Brandon, Manitoba. The AGSM is Manitoba’s largest arts organization outside of Winnipeg, and serves the
broad and diverse population of Southwestern Manitoba for over 112 years. We have a national reputation for the
excellence of our culturally diverse exhibition and education programming.

Description:

The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba seeks an energetic and organized individual with an interest in gaining
valuable experience within the field of arts administration and finance. Working in a creative and vibrant setting, the
Financial Administration Associate will work closely with the Gallery Services Coordinator in researching, developing and
implementing financial platforms for the gallery that provide accessible content. The Financial Administration Associate
will ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information produced and compliance with legislation for not-for-profit
organizations.

Daily administrative tasks include: assisting with the planning, coordination, and management of AGSM retail and
financial activities, as well as managing and reporting the results of various digital analytical tools. This position also
includes a research component in which the candidate will research development and innovation within the following
sectors:

The Art Gallery operates with a mandate to provide a virtual space where artists working in the field of new media/new
genres are able to create, experiment and develop new work; and where conversation and dialogue between artists,
activists and creative media users, is encouraged and documented. Our commitment to the intersection of social justice
and artistic practice is central to the mandate of the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba.

The position and experience will function as a training program for future art administrators. The Financial
Administration Associate will work alongside the Gallery Services Coordinator, who oversees the visitor services, event
coordination, communication and marketing, and point of sales system administration at the Art Gallery of
Southwestern Manitoba and the Executive Director who provides operational leadership.

The candidate must be passionate about not-for-profit cultural institutions and willing to research the development of
efficient and streamlined solutions for a 21st century approach to not-for-profits. This position requires an employee
who is fluent in the English language.

The preferred candidate will provide support to the Gallery Services Coordinator through projects with a focus on
financial administration S/he will research financial processes that facilitate the audience for virtual fundraising at the
AGSM through proactive and strategic content.

Description of tasks:

-Attends AGSM administration 5 days/week, attending weekly staff meetings, programming meetings, and one-on-one
meetings with the Visitor Services Coordinator
-Assist with ongoing programming tasks, such as program coordination, proposal development, general administrative
duties, and program delivery
-Conduct ongoing research into topics that relate to new financial processes to be streamlined, as well as topics of
importance to fundraising
-Research and present virtual fundraising proposals to the AGSM website
-Research platforms for new AGSM programs such as auction
-Create and maintain workflow charts for website page design
-Create weekly analytical reports on the performance of all Gift Shop and other retail such as membership and class
registration, including AGSM website
-Research and develop materials for new AGSM retail initiatives
-Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for reception staff with any new outlay for the point of
sales system.
-Assist in general administration with gallery’s operations.

Qualifications

- Enrolled in full-time, post-secondary studies in Computer Science / Digital Humanities/ Art & Art History / Museum
Studies / Business or equivalent studies and returning to full- time studies in fall of 2023.

- Must be eligible to work in Canada, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and be between the ages of 16-30
years.
