Building Engineer

Overview

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for a dependable and service-oriented individual to join our team at hockey for all centre.

The Building Engineer will work with a team to ensure that the operation and maintenance of the 4-pad multiplex and mechanical aspects of hockey for all centre are performing efficiently and effectively, in order to provide a safe environment to patrons.

What to be excited for in this role:
• Perform and maintain efficient, effective, and successful control of all building equipment and systems.
• Conduct inspections on all site mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and perform basic and complex preventative maintenance and corrective repairs.
• Take daily readings of all major equipment, review logs, and complete documentation as necessary.
• Utilize basic trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting to ensure building is functioning and presenting well.
• Liaise with and oversee the work performed by outside contractors.
• Provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers ensuring all operations, maintenance, and housekeeping duties meet facility standards.
• Provide all necessary customer service to visitors ensuring a Superior Patron Experience.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we need from you:
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid Manitoba Class “W” Refrigeration Certificate, in process of completing, or willingness to complete upon hire.
• Valid Manitoba 4th Class or greater is an asset.
• Experience working in a rink or arena is preferred.
• Experience in physical plant operations, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Alarm, and other related equipment is desired.
• General maintenance experience in a commercial, retail or industrial environment is considered an asset.
• Hands on and strong knowledge of general maintenance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in handling the public, athletes, hockey associations, sponsors, staff, and patrons.
• Able to work well independently with minimal direction and able to respond quickly and calmly to unexpected situations.
• Excellent problem solving and organizational skills, with a personal hands-on approach.
• A positive team player, working with colleagues sharing a common goal of providing excellent customer service.
• Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License.
• Able to work various shifts / flexible hours, including ability to work days, evenings, and weekends as required.
• hockey for all centre is not located on a public transportation route, so a driver’s license and/or reliable transportation is required.
