Plant Maintenance Technician

Shape Foods, Inc. is currently looking for a Plant Maintenance Technician
Who we are: Shape Foods is a leading manufacturer of high-quality Flax products. Our 70,000 sq. foot BRC Certified production facility which is located in Brandon MB. is uniquely focused on flax seed-based Omega-3 production and development which allows us to be a leader in the industry.
Our Plant Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of equipment and facilities, including but not limited to : mechanical, electrical, welding and fabrication of required machinery and components, providing timely repairs and maintenance support, and managing a preventative maintenance program. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone that is highly mechanically inclined with an advanced level of mechanical aptitude, ability to fabricate and assemble parts and supports for industrial equipment and machinery.
This role is part of our Day Shift which runs from 7:45 am to 4:15 PM, Monday-Friday.
We offer a benefits program after completion of a 90-day Probationary Program.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment and facilities - this includes mechanical repairs/ welding and fabrication - Respond to maintenance requests and complete maintenance work orders - Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues - Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or installations - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities - Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations - Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
- Determine if all parts are available or needed during repairs.
-Source and order required parts as well as outside contractors for specialized repairs
-Assembling equipment and its components and altering dimensions to adjust to required specifications,
Qualifications
Required Skills:
-Ability to think non-linearly (seeing pieces of a set and identifying what's missing; working backwards, etc.) - Strong technical knowledge and experience in maintenance and repair work in an industrial setting - Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics ¨ - welding and fabrication of industrial equipment and required components Ability to Perform moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and standing for prolonged periods of time (8-hour shifts)¨
-Mechanically inclined- advanced understanding of mechanical systems
¨ Ability to troubleshoot issues with industrial equipment – Gear box oil levels, oil seal replacements, electric motor installations and replacements, HVAC and air compressor filter changes etc.
¨ Ability to operate forklift (training provided)
-Good dexterity
- Excellent attention to detail
¨ Computer skills- email, internet research, record keeping (Microsoft programs)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as within a team - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal
