Junior Meteorological Technician

Junior Meteorological Technician

- Assisting in the installation, maintenance and calibration of automatic weather stations
- Assembly & maintenance of peripheral weather station equipment, including the testing and calibration of sensors
- Documentation of activities, equipment & inventories
- Other duties as required
Work will be under the direct supervision of a qualified technician/inspector(s) both in the field, and in the office

Conditions of Employment:
- Medical & security clearance required
- 20kg “Lift Test”
- Overnight travel. Typically does not exceed 4 nights away; may include an extended trip(s) to remote locations. Travel can be anywhere within Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Start Date: May 6, 2024
End Date: August 30, 2024
Start/End dates will vary based on the applicant’s educational program and ECCC’s requirements
There is no relocation component of this position. Employee must report to Winnipeg office.
Telework is not available for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Academic Level:
- Successful completion of the first year of the Communications Engineering Technology program

Essential Qualifications (mandatory):
- Class 5 Driver’s License

Asset Skills/Qualifications (not mandatory):
- Data analysis & quality control
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
- Understanding of electrical/electronics
- Significant experience with hand and power tools
- Technical documentation
