Summer Research Technician

Overview

Work with fellow agronomists and technicians to establish and maintain research plots. Activities include seeding plots, assessment and ratings of crops, insects, weeds and diseases. Must follow protocols that result in the correct application of treatments in trials. Will assist in plot maintenance, as well as in-season monitoring and collections which can include scouting, tissue testing, soil testing and insect trap monitoring. If the season allows, summer students will be able to participate in harvest, which will require collecting data by hand or equipment.

Qualifications

Time management skills are required. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral skills are a must. Applicant must be able to work independently or within a dynamic team environment. One should be able to perform rigorous physical field work under a variety of weather conditions. A valid drivers' license is required. The ability to work flexible full-time and overtime hours on short notice is viewed as an asset.
