We are looking to hire a Greenhouse Research Assistant for a One-Year Term position!
Do you have an interest in plants and a willingness to learn? This position might be the right fit for you! Come join our greenhouse team.
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the canola breeding greenhouse programs. Aiding in the successful completion of breeding projects your tasks would include:
- Planting, transplanting, and maintaining canola plants in a research environment.
- Maintaining seed inventories
- Taking samples and record keeping
- Assisting in crossing programs
- Hand harvesting and threshing of greenhouse plants.
- Assisting the team with program goals
Some knowledge of plant biology, experience with canola and/or previous work in a greenhouse environment would be an asset. However, on-the-job training will be provided including state-of-the-art control systems and LED lighting.
Qualifications
Desired qualifications:
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Be able to work in high heat environments.
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Location and Transportation:
DL Seeds Inc. is located at 25028 Road 17N, Off Highway #3 near Morden and Winkler. There is no public transportation to the site. The hours of operation are 8:00am-4:30pm.
Salary will be competitive, based on education and experience.
