3Year full time position Agricultural Field Research Associate

• Minto is 50 KM south of Brandon
I am looking for 1 full time Research Associate to conduct small plot replicated field crop research. .The successful candidate must have field crop research experience . Most trials are RCBD with 4 replications. You ideally should have the ability to operate a research cone seeder, plot sprayers and plot combines. The main theme is Soil Health and developing systems for Net Zero farming . You must be able to supervise two summer students. Data analysis and extension material preparation will be done over winter. As time permits there will be assistance needs to maintain the grounds, buildings and equipment. The job is at my farm at Minto. You must have a drivers license and dependable vehicle to get to work . There is an older farm house near the farm for rent.. The job is 40 hrs./week , but hours may vary depending on the weather.
The full time position is for a three year term with the possibility of permanent position afterwards.
Highly desired skills are
experience conducting small plot replicated field research plots
• experience driving 35 to 50 hp tractors.
• experience calculating herbicide rates
• physically able to weed plots , take biomass rating and conduct plant counts
• must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. on to the back of a truck
other desirable skills are
• be able to operate a truck and trailer to move small plot equipment
• having a farming background is not necessary but desirable
• have a passion for agriculture and the role of agriculture in mitigating global warming
