Overview

The Cartier Regional Water Coop provides high quality, reliable drinking water produced from two separate treatment facilities to a region comprised of 8 rural municipalities with a combined population of 15,000 people. The Cartier Regional Water Coop is an ever-expanding organization with industry leading technology and state of the art facilities that has been in operation for 25 years.

Job Description: Assist in the operation and maintenance of modern Class 4 Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment system. Maintain operations of a Class 2 regional Water Distribution system with a multitude of remote stations. Conduct necessary daily water analysis to ensure Canadian drinking water quality guidelines are met. Monitor and control operations through Scada platforms. On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to report to a Lead operator and Manager. Perform daily collection, entry, and review of operational data for systems monitoring. To achieve this, at times you will be working alone as an individual leader or as part of a dynamic team. Your work efforts will enable the organization to maintain operational excellence and stay committed to the expectations of our end consumers.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications: The position requires an individual to be motivated, a good leader and a self-starter. Completion of a grade 12 education or GED is required for Manitoba certification. Additional education in Science, Mechanics, Plumbing or a related field will be considered. Experience or certification in the Water industry field is preferred, but not essential. Experience in a Class II or higher Water Treatment or Distribution facility is preferred but not required. Directly related experience in operation of an Ultra-filtration/Reverse Osmosis process would be an asset. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the principles and concepts of water treatment. Experience with chemical handling is an asset. Excellent computer skills and familiarity with SCADA control, Microsoft Word and Excel are a definite asset. Candidates are expected to be able to provide strong skills in time management, organization, leadership, and communication. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with co-workers and the public are required. Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and own transportation are a must. The position requires daily travel. Candidates will be required to participate in the current work schedule including a weekend on-call rotation and be able to respond to after hour call-out alarms if required post probationary period. The ability to lift 50 pounds, work at elevated heights or in confined spaces is also required.
