Assiniboine College is proud to celebrate the graduation of students from nine certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma programs at its Parkland campus today.

“Today, we honor the dedication and hard work of our graduates as they step into new chapters of their lives,” said Mark Frison, President of Assiniboine College. “This achievement is a testament to their perseverance, and we are immensely proud of their efforts.”

Carol Stewart, Director of the Parkland Campus, shared her excitement: “It is a continued joy to share in this day for the students of Parkland campus. We are thrilled to support the educational aspirations of our community, and today we celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our graduates. I am eager to see the positive impact they will have on their families, industries and communities in the future.”

Joana Lusung Ribagorda, a Social Service Worker graduate, is the valedictorian for the Parkland campus ceremony. Ribagorda arrived in Canada less than two years ago from the Philippines, following a career in customer service and finance. She was attracted to the Parkland area as she had family connections locally, and now plans to pursue her career in Dauphin.

“I hope as valedictorian I can share with my fellow graduates how important their time here was. I want to inspire the graduates to pursue excellence. I believe that is one of the important things we can do.”

Ribagorda gravitated towards the Social Service Worker program as she had an aunt who served in a similar role helping those in need.

“I knew one day I would like to follow in her footsteps and become a Social Service Worker. I’ve been on my practicum at Parkland Job Opportunity Centre, and would love to stay here and continue in a role like this.”

Next week, Assiniboine Community College will host its largest graduation ceremony of the year in Brandon.

Assiniboine’s latest Graduate Satisfaction and Employment Survey indicates that 94 per cent of graduates secure employment within nine months of completing their studies, with 95 per cent of graduates choosing to live and work in Manitoba.

Today’s ceremony in Dauphin begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Parkland Recreation Complex - in Dauphin, Manitoba. More details are available at assiniboine.net/grad.
