Weekend Recap Jan 9, 2016

The Cougars won 4 of 5 games over the weekend to start the new year off with a bang!

The ACC Cougars started off 2016 with three wins. On Friday night women's volleyball swept the Red River College Rebels 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-12). Drew Mitchell had 9 kills followed by Kirstin Greer with 6 kills, 2 blocks.

The men's team followed with their first win of the new year 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 20-25, 25-21) over the Rebels. Tristen Dias led with 13 kills while Josh Wood had 6 blocks.

On Saturday, the Rebels came back strong in a rematch. The Cougar women pulled out a 3-1 (21-25, 25-9, 27-25, 25-20) win. Brooke Huculak led with 14 kills and Samara Zatylny added 5 blocks.

The men's match followed and Red River beat the Cougars in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-20). Cougars kill leader was Brett Foster with 7.

Women's hockey finished off Friday night with a 5-2 win versus the Polar Ice. Kiara DeKezel had a hat trick for the Cougars. Kaelei Rink added the other 2 goals and added an assist. Amy Weightman, Kenzie Tripp, Brooke Lonoway and Shayna Fluker also had assists. Chantal Forbes was in net for the win.
