True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for a proactive and passionate professional to lead the event operations and facility management.
As the Manager, Events & Facility - Burton Cummings Theatre, you will be at the heart of live entertainment, ensuring smooth event execution and overseeing facility upkeep that bring world-class performances to life. Your expertise will help maintain the theatre’s reputation as a top-tier venue.
What to be excited for in this role:
Event & Production Management
Take charge of event planning and coordination, working closely with clients, performers, and internal teams to bring shows to life.
Work with the Operations Department to maintain all building functions in addition to show production and stage management.
Oversee stage management, production logistics, and technical operations, including lighting, rigging, and sound.
Be on-site for events, troubleshooting in real time and keeping everything running smoothly.
Facility & Operations Management
Keep the venue running at its best by managing building maintenance, repairs, and daily operations.
Supervise contracted labor, operations, and housekeeping staff to maintain a safe, welcoming space for audiences and artists.
Plan and manage budgets for facility upkeep, training, and equipment improvements.
Recommend and implement upgrades to keep the theatre a premier destination for live entertainment.
Follow safety regulations and contribute to True North’s Safety Committee.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to deliver the highest level of experience to patrons.
Represent True North professionally when working with artists, production crews, and touring personnel.
Qualifications
What we need from you:
Event production and facility management experience. Ideally exposure in a theatre, concert venue, or large-scale event setting is an asset.
Functional working knowledge of all the components of theatrical and touring show execution such as stage management, labor management, fly floor operation, rigging, sound system operation, theatrical lighting operation and control is an asset.
Hands-on mechanical skills to operate and maintain lifts, hoists, and cleaning equipment.
Proficiency in administrative tasks and software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and scheduling.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Solid team building and leadership skills.
Routinely go above and beyond in the accomplishment of position responsibilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects with demonstrated ability to think and plan ahead.
Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage workflow in an efficient and effective manner.
A problem solver and a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced work environment.
Highly motivated and proactive, anticipating the next steps and moving them forward without intervention.
A valid Manitoba driver’s license in good standing.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability for emergency facility-related calls.
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 kilograms.
CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
