Overview

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the accounting department, including payroll, ensuring that all financial activities are in line with Company goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner
• Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
• Maintain speed and accuracy of accounts receivable invoicing and client payments
• Assist with accounts payable entries, as required
• Assist with maintaining the chart of accounts
• Assist with issuing timely and complete financial statements
• Ensure accounts payable and receivables are current
• Complete bank reconciliations
• Update and reconcile Capital Asset listings
• Assist with month-end processes
• Assist with year-end closings, including year-end audit and the preparation of internal operating statements of the Company
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies
• Recommend process improvements and efficiencies
• Keep up-to-date on current accounting trends, legislative changes, and economic conditions
• Complete and submit tax remittance forms, Worker’s Compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government remittances
• Payroll administration including:
o Processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis
o Completion of paperwork to onboard new employees (payroll, benefits, RRSP, etc.)
o Act as a resource for employees with questions on benefits
o Perform basic resource functions
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in a financial managerial position (willing to train recent graduates with potential)
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and financial reporting software, ERP experience would be an asset
• Results oriented, strategic thinker and planner
• Confident self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work in a busy environment and multi-task effectively
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong problem solving skills and have keen attention to detail
• Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team
