Overview
Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba is accepting applications for a full-time Clerk Typist III term position; this position will commence as soon as possible and conclude by February 5, 2027. As this term position is to cover a maternity leave of absence, it may expire sooner than February 2027, subject to a minimum two-week notice period.
This specialized clerk role will support the Child Abuse Coordinator and the Child Abuse Committee in completing their requirements under the Child Abuse Committee Regulation. The successful applicant will also be responsible for preparing highly specialized and time-sensitive material such as intakes, reports, notices and legal documentation and providing Family Court Clerk coverage in their absence including attending Provincial Court in a clerical capacity. The ideal candidate must exercise sound judgment, stay organized, prioritize documents effectively, and quickly gain proficiency in the Child and Family Services Information System (CFSIS) software, the Intake Module, and the Child Abuse Registry system. Strong attention to detail, solid computer skills, and proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office are essential. Additionally, the successful candidate must be willing to assist with general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, scanning, handling mail, and providing Reception coverage when needed.
A completed two-year diploma or at least two-years of related post-secondary education in a related field, as outlined in the qualifications section, is a mandatory requirement for this position. While the qualifications also specify a minimum of three years related clerical experience, candidates who meet the education requirement but have less direct experience may be considered with the ability to demonstrate strong skills such as attention to detail.
This position will be compensated on the CT3 salary scale and is subject to a six-month probationary period or four-month trial period. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the successful candidate will be eligible to join the Agency’s comprehensive benefits and pension plans; this includes a defined contribution pension plan, where the employer and the employee contribute 7% each to the employee’s future. This position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
▪Graduate of a recognized two-year business or office administration diploma program, with at least three years’ clerical experience in an office setting – legal system courses considered a definite asset;
▪Previous legal experience and knowledge of legal terminology and documentation;
▪Ability to respect and promote confidentiality – direct experience handling confidential information;
▪Excellent computer skills, including knowledge and technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CFSIS, Intake Module and a minimum 60 words per minute typing speed;
▪Ability to communicate well in both written and oral format, as well as build effective working relationships with various individuals such as the Child Abuse Committee members;
▪Excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills, including the demonstrated ability to determine priorities, meet deadlines and problem solve in a fast-paced environment;
▪Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision;

Additional Information:
▪Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Records Check (including vulnerable sector), Prior Contact Check, and a Driver’s Abstract Check is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for any services charges incurred for the Criminal Record Check; the Agency will pay for the other three security checks.
