The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Mental Health Program Coordinator position within our Health & Wellness Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The Mental Health Program Coordinator plans, implements, coordinates, and oversees the mental health programs for the Health and Wellness department to ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, budgetary guidelines, and work plan activities.
Qualifications
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Perform assessments on the mental health needs and available services for the Red River Métis Citizens;
• Develop and facilitate mental health programs for the Red River Métis population based on needs assessments;
• Identify various grants and other funding opportunities and submit applications;
• Lead a team under the mental health programs framework;
• Develop collaborative partnerships with stakeholders;
• Provide written monthly and annual reports on department activities and results;
• Develop program in accordance with signed contracts/contribution agreements;
• Coordinate the writing, budget development, review, formatting, and all other aspects of generating proposals for the development of mental health services.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in health science, business administration, social science, or another related field;
• Experience as a Program Coordinator or relevant position is preferred;
• Previous experience in individual and/or group counselling is required;
• One year experience in the mental health field is preferred;
• Experience in preparing funding proposals for social service projects and programs;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Knowledge of local, federal and provincial resources;
• Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
