Overview

Peonan Point School is located in the community of Peonan Point, approximately 3.5 hours northwest of Winnipeg. The school is a modern facility with a small student body of five learners, supported by a Teaching Principal and an Educational Assistant. This unique setting offers an excellent opportunity for individualized instruction and community-focused leadership.

Position Summary:
The Teaching Principal will be responsible for both the instructional and administrative leadership of the school. This includes teaching a multi-graded classroom (Grades 1–12) and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school. The ideal candidate is flexible, self-motivated, and passionate about rural education in a small-school environment.

Responsibilities:

Deliver multi-grade instruction aligned with the provincial curriculum (Grades 1–12)

Provide instructional leadership and support for student learning

Manage all administrative and operational aspects of the school

Supervise and collaborate with the Educational Assistant

Maintain communication with parents, community members, and divisional staff

Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment

Complete required reporting, budgeting, and planning activities

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree and valid Manitoba Teacher's Certificate (or eligibility for)
- Master's Degree in Education and/or Certificate in School Leadership would be an asset.
- Previous teaching experience including experience in multi-graded classrooms.
- Previous administrative experience would be an asset.
- Excellent understanding of current Manitoba Curricula and differentiated instruction
- Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum.
- Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment and experience with and understanding of school-based technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and the community and foster parental involvement.
- Previous success with the development and implementation of short and long-term school-based plans
- Experience leading innovative and alternative program delivery methods for students.
- Keen ability to identify and creatively solve problems.
- Capacity to work in and respond to a demanding, fast-paced school environment.
