There’s no extra cost for membership. You only pay government processing fees and any optional legal fees (e.g. study/work permit extensions).

Yes—you can access legal consultations virtually through the platform.

What are the administrative fees for?
These cover legal reviews and filing services provided by BorderPass lawyers.

Can I stop using BorderPass anytime?
Yes—students may opt out, and questions about stopping or document access should be directed to BorderPass support.

What services are included for the student member for study permit application?

Member Student (“Student”) Receives:

● Application services including preparation, review, and filing by licensed Canadian immigration lawyers.

● Step-by-step immigration guidance covering pre-arrival, post-arrival, border process, and ongoing legal support during and after studies.

● Comprehensive support for documentation and Statement of Purpose, including red flag alerts, guidance on financial proof, and help articulating study plans and ties to home country.

● Assistance with reapplications or legal appeal options in the event of a study permit refusal.

Does BorderPass guarantee Study Permit application approval?

No—BorderPass ensures professionally prepared applications, but IRCC retains final decision power on all types of applications.

Will BorderPass transfer Study Permit Copy and Co-op Work Permit to Assiniboine College for registration?

No- BorderPass will not transfer Study Permit or Co-op Work Permit copies to Assiniboine College. The member student is responsible for uploading the following documents on Assiniboine iCENT Mobile App

  1. Study Permit Application acknowledgment letter
  2. IRCC Decision letter and/or Passport Request
  3. Study Permit Copy (including new & extensions) and Co-op Work Permit (including new & extensions)

What happens if the study permit application is denied?

BorderPass supports judicial reviews and appeals for students whose study permit applications were submitted via the platform—sometimes covered at no cost. Contact Borderpass support for details.

If your study permit application is denied, member student must inform Assiniboine College about the IRCC decision and discuss the next steps regarding withdrawal and refund, as applicable. ([email protected])

Can my family’s (spouse/partner, minor children) applications go through BorderPass?
Yes—dependent applications are eligible for services through BorderPass. Additional costs depending on the services may be directly charged by BorderPass and payable by the member student.

Is follow-up support included?
Yes—lawyers remain available until a decision is made.

Can Assiniboine College staff coordinate with BorderPass lawyers?
Assiniboine College staff will not be directly involved or advocate on the student’s behalf to BorderPass lawyer. Assiniboine College staff will support with any documentation support required as part of the IRCC study permit, co-op permit or PGWP application requirement.

Access After Graduation

How long can I access BorderPass after graduation?
Membership continues for 16 weeks post-graduation.

If I transfer schools, do I retain access?
Student must complete the withdrawal process with Assiniboine College.
