Introduction

Assiniboine College invites experienced tradespeople in Carpentry, Building Services, Remediation, and related fields to apply for contract instructor positions focused on teaching and demonstrating Mold Remediation. This opportunity is open to individuals with both general and specialized experience in mold remediation and building construction. Successful candidates will be required to complete a 2-day training course to become certified trainers, after which they will be engaged on an as-needed basis.

The role involves delivering training locally and, at times, outside the Westman area. Instructors will work closely with students and industry partners both in-class and on live remediation sites, all while upholding Assiniboine College’s high academic standards.

Scope of Work

The selected Contract Instructors will be responsible for:

  • Delivering Expertise: Teach Mold Remediation principles based on a combination of education and extensive industry experience.
  • Course Development & Improvement: Collaborate with fellow instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to review, refresh, and enhance course materials. This includes updating presentations, integrating new teaching resources, and refining lesson plans to engage students more effectively.
  • Onboarding & Availability: Attend the 2-day onboarding training and be available for contract work based on the scheduling needs of the college.
  • Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with SMEs, other instructors, and stakeholders to ensure the quality and relevance of the curriculum. Support continuous improvement efforts to maintain high standards in both student learning and partner relationships.

Technical & Work-Related Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Engagement Skills: Proven ability to effectively engage students or employees in training settings.
  • Compliance Knowledge: A strong understanding of accreditation standards and regulatory compliance in high-risk environments.
  • Adaptability & Travel Flexibility: A willingness to learn new concepts and the ability to travel for extended periods (up to 5 weeks at a time) as required by the position.
