Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) is a non-profit organization that connects Red River Métis women, girls, 2SLGBTQ+ members throughout the Province of Manitoba and beyond, with a mandate to promote, empower, and enhance their well-being. Incorporated on April 23, 2013, IWS has become well known in our Red River Métis communities and remains a proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the National Government of the Red River Métis.

The IWS seeks to fill one full-time Holistic Wellness Counsellor position within our Transitional Housing Centre located in St. Andrews, MB. The centre operates 24/7 therefore the incumbent will be scheduled to work various shifts. incumbent will provide holistic counselling services that support to members in a transitional setting. The Transitional Housing is currently under development. The successful candidate will be required to work at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB, for a temporary term, with the site anticipated to become operational in spring 2026.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Competencies:

• Provide holistic trauma-informed support and counselling, using a proactive, member-centered mindset;
• Offer individual, family, and group therapy to members of Transitional Housing;
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that assist members in setting and achieving envisioned goals;
• Monitor member progress, compile data, document, and write reports to evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and wellness programs and interventions;
• Advocate for members when appropriate, liaising with other community resources and organizations;
• Ensure members and their children have access to culturally grounded grief and trauma supports;
• Assist Transitional Housing Coordinator with activities as necessary;
• Monitor for crises as they occur and responding appropriately.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Business Administration, or a related discipline or a combination of suitable education and experience will be considered;
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing counselling with clinical assessments;
• Experience working within a trauma-informed care model;
• Knowledge of client case and/or data management systems is considered an asset;
• Strong understanding of the diverse needs of Indigenous women, 2SLGBTQ+ members, their children, and Community is an asset;
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
• Must provide a clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks, and Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture and IWS programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
