Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) is a non-profit organization that connects Red River Métis women, girls, 2SLGBTQ+ members throughout the Province of Manitoba and beyond, with a mandate to promote, empower, and enhance their well-being. Incorporated on April 23, 2013, IWS has become well known in our Red River Métis communities and remains a proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the National Government of the Red River Métis.
The IWS seeks to fill one full-time Transitional Housing Coordinator position within our Transitional Housing Centre located in St. Andrews, MB. The centre operates 24/7 therefore the incumbent will be scheduled to work various shifts. The Transitional Housing Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and delivering support services to members in a transitional setting. The Transitional Housing is currently under development. The successful candidate will be required to work at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB, for a temporary term, with the site anticipated to become operational in spring 2026.
Qualifications
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Deliver holistic, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded support to members and their children in a Red River Métis familiar environment;
• Plan, implement, and coordinate culturally relevant workshops, activities, and events reflecting Red River Métis culture and heritage;
• Build and maintain relationships with Red River Métis Elders, knowledge keepers, and community partners for program support and mentorship;
• Conduct intake assessments and collaborate with members to develop and implement Detailed Goal Plans that promote personal growth, wellness, and long-term success;
• Maintain accurate documentation while supporting members’ development of life skills such as cooking, finances, education, employment readiness, and independent living;
Skills and Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Social Work, Social Services, or related field; equivalent experience and training may be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable populations, along with previous experience in a supportive or caregiving role;
• Knowledge of note taking and program reporting is considered an asset;
• Strong communication, both verbal and written, with active listening skills in a nurturing approach to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds is an asset.
• Must provide a clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks, and Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;
• Experience working with boards, for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous Community is preferred;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and IWS programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
