Cougars Weekend Recap Nov 19

Women's hockey brought home a pair of wins after traveling to Duluth, Minnesota. Both volleyball teams fell to the Canadian Mennonite Blazers.

Hockey

Assiniboine Community College’s women’s hockey team picked up four points on the weekend in a two-game set against the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

On Saturday, the Cougars defeated the Bulldogs 4-1 in Duluth, Minn. Alix Tosh, Samantha Christensen, Haylee Anderson and Blair Bodie all scored for the Cougars. Marley Quesnel picked up the win in net.

On Sunday, Erin Doherty scored with only 63 seconds on the clock to give the Cougars a 2-1 over the Bulldogs. Anderson also scored while Quesnel was in net for the win.

The Cougars host North Dakota State on Dec. 1 and 2 at the Sportsplex.

Volleyball

It was a tough weekend for the Cougars on the court as both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams couldn’t muster any wins against the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers.

On Saturday, the women captured the first set before eventually falling 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19). Jessi Coulter and Paige Donald led the Cougars with eight kills while Blaire De La Mare chipped in with six and Madelyn Neufeld had five.

In men’s action, the Cougars were were swept 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-17). Braden Campbell had 10 kills, Will Hatherley had eight and Paycen Warkentin had four blocks.

On Friday, both teams fell in three sets to CMU. The women lost 25-14, 25-14, 25-22 while the men lost 25-23, 25-15, 25-23.

The Cougars host Providence on Nov. 23 and 24 at their Victoria East Campus in Brandon.
