The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Case Coordinator position within our Housing First Program located within our Southwest Regional Office in Brandon, MB. The Case Manager is responsible for managing caseloads, conducting needs assessments, and developing individualized support plans, in addition to implementing and coordinating program plans.
Qualifications
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Conduct comprehensive intake and assessments to determine client needs, strengths, and goals;
• Develop individualized housing stabilization and service plans in collaboration with clients;
• Assist clients in securing permanent housing, including conducting housing searches, landlord engagement, and advocacy;
• Provide ongoing support to clients to help maintain housing stability, including home visits, crisis intervention, and referrals;
• Support clients in accessing healthcare, mental health, addiction, employment, education, cultural, and community resources;
• Utilize harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and culturally appropriate practices;
• Monitor HIFIS use and ensure data and reporting are up to date.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered;
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, addictions, and/or trauma;
• Knowledge of Housing First principles and harm reduction approaches;
• Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and historical impacts;
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills;
• Proficiency in documentation, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Housing First Programs, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
