The Building Services Manager oversees building operations for all Assiniboine College campuses and locations. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this role is responsible for managing custodial services. The Building Services Manager leads, supervises, and manages the team while working closely with various College departments and external community contacts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees custodial services and Building Services purchasing, including inventory control, WHMIS documentation, and disposal of surplus or obsolete equipment.
- Manages day-to-day Building Services operations, responding to service requests, assigning work, and coordinating activities using CMMS software.
- Develops, implements, and administers comprehensive maintenance, operations, and safety programs, plans, and policies for building systems, equipment, grounds, and exterior maintenance.
- Leads and supervises staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, scheduling, timesheet approval, and addressing employee relations and disciplinary matters.
- Coordinates and works closely with contractors to support operational and maintenance requirements.
- Contributes to College committees and the development of divisional and multi-year operational plans aligned with institutional priorities.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in building maintenance operations and custodial/cleaning services, with supervisory experience in a related field; experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, customer service, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with computers and common business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook); experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
- Knowledge of WHMIS requirements and the ability to maintain safety and compliance standards.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies, with financial and budgetary skills considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required.
