Forage Seed Production Summer Specialist

Overview

DSV Northstar is a leader in the production and distribution of high quality forage and turf grasses. The successful candidate will work closely with the seed production team to help with the research and production of various grass and legume species. We are currently hiring a term summer student position out of the head office in Neepawa, Manitoba.

Term
- May 2026 – September 2026 (length of term is open to be extended)

Location
-The head office is located just outside of Neepawa, Manitoba. The selected candidate will be required to report to this location each day. There will be some travel required throughout the province and potentially to Saskatchewan and Alberta. 90% of trips will be day trips.

Duties include:
- Assist in in maintenance of plot trials
o Planting, spraying, mowing, evaluating, harvesting etc.
- Assist the production team with deliver of seed to growers in spring
- Assist in the incubation, distribution and collection of leafcutter bees and equipment in alfalfa fields for pollination
- Assist production advisors with scouting of various grass legume seed production fields throughout the growing season
- Assist in the bagging and tagging of pedigreed seed
- Delivery of retail seed orders

Qualifications

- Highly motivated individual who works well with minimal supervision
- Previous experience running equipment (tractors, combines, fork lifts, etc.)
- Previous experience work with trials and small plots
- Pursuing a diploma or degree in an agricultural field
- Passion for forages and livestock
- Valid Class 5 drivers license required, Class 3 preferred not required
