About the position
Duties
Primary duties include, under the supervision of an inspector:
•Assists in the collection of soil sampling.
•Collects and records information about inspection results as well as other survey related activities.
Work environment
The work is primarily performed outside and consists of walking fields, soil sampling fields and recording information. The environment is very collaborative and fosters a teamwork approach. Inspection Assistants receive support and guidance from inspectors.
Inspection Assistants are frequently required to walk approximately 10 – 15 kilometres per day, carrying weights of up to 10 kilograms. This is a physically demanding job.
We currently have an immediate need to recruit approximately 15 Inspection Assistants anticipated to begin early Spring, with the possibility of extension. The intent of this Inventory is to have candidates to draw from when vacancies arise for current and future needs. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
EEd1 - For individuals who are not current or former employees of CFIA:
• completion of post-secondary education specializing in relevant technical sciences.
CFIA Operations will apply a preference for:
• university graduation with specialization in a field related to the functions of the position.
For individuals who are currently employees of CFIA, or who have inspection experience with CFIA or its precursor departments:
• completion of post-secondary education specializing in relevant technical sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
