Overview

Welder / Mechanic

RFNOW Inc. is seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our Construction and Maintenance Team. As our Welder / Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team of technicians working to maintain all of our medium and heavy-duty construction equipment throughout the year. You will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repairs and overhauling vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. You will work on a variety of machinery, including plows, drills, hoes, and trucks. This role will be ideal for a responsible, independent, and self-motivated mechanic who gets excited about being challenged with on-the-spot repairs at various field locations.

General Responsibilities

Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes as required
Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment according to blueprints, technical drawings, or verbal instructions
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems including engines, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutting torches, and welding equipment safely and effectively
Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA standards
Assist with general shop duties as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

Technical certificate as a Welder and/or Mechanic preferred – proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Proven experience as a welder and mechanic (typically 2+ years)
Strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, and safety practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
Excellent problem-solving, trouble-shooting and analytical skills
Experience in diesel engines, heavy equipment, automotive repair, industrial fabrication
Forklift or heavy equipment operation certification is an assets
Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required – Class 3 License would be an asset.
Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and software
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Keen interest to learn and develop new skills and keep up with advancing technology

Job Expectations

This position typically involves working in a garage or shop setting, with exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more, with assistance) and perform physically demanding tasks.
Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
