The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill two full-time Program Coordinator positions within our Energy, Infrastructure, and Resource Management Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Senior Director, the Program Coordinator supports the Manitoba Métis Federation’s six EIRM portfolios by leading and coordinating initiatives, facilitating consultations and partnerships, and ensuring that Red River Métis rights, claims, and interests are protected and reflected in policies, planning processes, and federal/provincial programming.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Competencies:

• Lead and provide strategic support to the Initiative;
• Manage and implement funding agreements;
• Develop implementation plans aligned with MMF mandates and funding deliverables;
• Lead project planning and implementation, including environmental monitoring, engagement, and conservation planning activities;
• Identify and purse strategic and financial partnership opportunities;
• Facilitate consultation activities on issues that may impact Red River Métis section 35 rights;
• Coordinate consultation meetings, engagement sessions, report writing and appropriate follow up with funders.

Skills and Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and experience will be considered;
• Experience in research and/or program development;
• Experience working with Leadership and in community settings;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
