Overview
We have partnered with our client, a leader in the security and safety industry in Brandon, Manitoba to support in their search of a new Installation and Service Technician to join their team.
The Installation and Service Technician works directly with customers to install, maintain, and troubleshoot security systems, ensuring all equipment operates effectively and meets client needs. This role is responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and delivering high-quality service while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Install, program, and service security systems including alarms, access control, intercom, and CCTV
• Troubleshoot and repair system issues, including hardware, software, and basic network problems.
• Inspect systems to identify faults and ensure all components are working properly.
• Run and install wiring, cables, and equipment such as control panels, sensors, and cameras.
• Read and follow building plans, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
• Test systems (batteries, keypads, alarms, cameras, etc.) to ensure proper performance.
• Adjust system settings based on site conditions and manufacturer guidelines.
• Work with clients to assess security needs and provide recommendations.
• Support and troubleshoot camera systems, including NVRs, mobile apps, and wireless connections.
• Complete service calls within deadlines and maintain accurate notes, resolutions, and timesheets.
• Demonstrate system use to customers and provide basic training.
• Various other duties as required.
Requirements and Competencies
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electronics, networking, or related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Knowledge of basic networking concepts and protocols.
• Experience with CCTV systems, NVRs, wireless bridges, and related technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
