Overview
The Childcare Centre Director will lead the development, opening, and ongoing operations of the Austin location, its extended programming, and the potential launch of a second location. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director will establish policies and procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, hire and support staff, oversee budgeting and program development, and build strong relationships with families and the broader community.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a new centre from its initial stages through expansion into a multi-site operation.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance
• Manage day-to-day operation of the childcare center and expanding programs
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational systems
• Ensure compliance with Manitoba childcare regulations and licensing requirements
• Maintain high standards of care, safety, and program quality/consistency
• Effectively manage budgeting finances and facility resources
• Oversee enrolment management, funding and operational sustainability
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting requirements are met
Human Resources
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff
• Foster a respectful, collaborative, and professional workplace culture
• Support staff development and ongoing training
• Plan for staffing needs as the organization expands
Governance & Community Relations
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors on strategic planning and reporting
• Support cooperative governance and member engagement
• Build and maintain relationships with families, schools, and community partners
• Represent the centre within the community
Qualifications
• Early Childhood Education (ECE II or III) certification, plus the required experience as outlined by ELCC
• Child Abuse Registry Check & Criminal Record Check
• Knowledge of Manitoba childcare regulations and licensing requirements
• 3–5 years of experience in a childcare or early learning environment preferred
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Experience in policy development and program implementation is considered an asset
