Paid Education & Employment
Assiniboine College is proud to partner with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to provide pathways to students and graduates under their Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Plan (NCMSTEP) program.
The following programs at Assiniboine are recognized as being eligible for paid education through the Canadian Armed Forces:
| Assiniboine Program | Recognized CAF Career |
| Culinary Arts | Cook |
| Network Administration Technology | Naval Communicator |
| Piping Trades | Plumbing & Heating Technician |
| Practical Nursing | Operating Room Technician |
Current and future students who qualify will receive paid employment with the CAF (a private is paid $4,337 per month*) and receive up to 100% of their tuition, textbooks, and academic equipment covered. Plus, a job in your field when you graduate!
Graduates of specific programs at Assiniboine may have their education recognized by CAF and be eligible to receive some or all of the following: higher rank, higher pay increment, a bypass of some training, a recruitment allowance (signing bonus for some occupations), and leave credit on enrolment.
Please note that all applicants must meet the CAF’s entry requirements. Incentives such as those listed above can only be confirmed by a recruiter with the CAF (not by Assiniboine College) as each case is assessed individually. Start by visiting their webpage: forces.ca/en/paid-education/ncmstep
*monthly salary as of July 2026; refer to CAF directly for more information and pay structures.
