Dr. Brad Mahon, the current president of Great Plains College in Saskatchewan, will join Assiniboine this fall as Vice President, Community Development.

“Brad brings a tremendous amount of experience to our team. I’m looking forward to what he is going to contribute immediately to the work we’re doing around the province,” said Mark Frison, President of Assiniboine College. “As Assiniboine considers its future, he also strengthens our depth for business continuity and succession planning.”

Great Plains has multiple campuses across 100,000 km so Mahon’s experience there is a great fit for Assiniboine, which has more than 25 sites across Manitoba and is a national leader in community-based education.

Mahon previously served as the Dean of Continuing Studies at Mount Royal University. He currently serves as a regional representative on the Board of Colleges and Institutes Canada. Mahon has a PhD in Musicology from the University of Calgary and an MBA from Royal Roads University. He is the author of the book Leadership is Personal.

Mahon’s VP appointment will have him oversee the college’s community-based programs, Continuing Studies and Indigenous Affairs, as well as the Parkland campus.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Assiniboine. I’ve been impressed with what the institution has been achieving and I’m looking forward to making a meaningful contribution,” said Mahon.
