Salary: $67,144 to $105,334 annually ($35.62 to $55.88 hourly)

(Educational Supplemental: Masters $1.59/hour; PhD $3.19/hour)

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Adult Learning, the Instructor is responsible the following courses: Adult Basic Education ELA and Math, Essential Math 30S and 40S, and ELA Language Arts 30S and 40S, and other electives. The program is designed to prepare adult students for post-secondary studies. The program will be delivered in-person at Little Grand Rapids First Nation, Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports adult learner success through effective classroom management, academic advising, and student support.
  • Assess and evaluate student learning using a variety of methods, providing timely feedback and maintaining academic standards.
  • Adapt and enhance course materials, learning activities, and assessment tools to meet curriculum outcomes and diverse learner needs.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain course content and learning resources using provided curriculums.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement, and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support program goals and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Centre for Adult Learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • A valid Manitoba Professional Teaching Certificate in good standing is mandatory
  • Experience teaching in a high school setting, formal adult education environment, or a combination of both.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning experiences.
  • Experience teaching adult learners is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • Experience using learning management systems, such as Moodle, is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional best practices, assessment and evaluation methods, student advising, and learner support strategies.
  • Understanding of Indigenization, decolonization, and inclusive approaches to curriculum and teaching.
