Pioneer is seeking two motivated students to join our Prairie East team in Manitoba for a summer internship that blends hands-on agronomy with commercial sales exposure. You will work alongside Territory Managers, Field Agronomists, and our network of Pioneer Seed Sales Representatives, spending the majority of your summer in growers' fields across Manitoba. This is a practical, in-field role: you will see the full crop season — from post-emergence scouting through pre-harvest evaluation — while learning how agronomic insight drives product placement and customer relationships in Western Canada.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Agronomy
Scout corn, soybean, canola, and sunflower fields for weeds, insects, disease, and abiotic stress
Establish, maintain, and collect data from on-farm trials, strip plots, and product demonstration sites
Support plot staking, stand counts, tissue/soil sampling, and harvest data collection
Use digital agronomy tools and mobile data platforms to capture and report field observations
Sales & Customer Support
Accompany Territory Managers and Pioneer sales reps on grower calls and farm visits
Prepare product positioning materials, local trial summaries, and season-end grower reports
Assist with summer plot tours, field days, and customer events across the Prairie East geography
Contribute competitive intelligence and local market observations
Project Work
Complete a defined summer project and present findings to the Prairie East leadership team at end of term

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Comfortable working outdoors in variable Prairie conditions, including early mornings and occasional long days
Strong communication skills and genuine interest in working directly with farm customers
Preferred
Farm background or prior agronomy, ag-retail, or field research experience
Familiarity with Western Canadian cropping systems (corn, soybeans, canola, sunflowers)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using mobile field data applications
Self-directed and organized — able to manage a work plan with limited day-to-day supervision
