Compost Equipment Operator

Compost Equipment Operator Level 2

The Compost Equipment Operator will participate as part of a working team that operates a variety of equipment and machinery and performs the tasks required for the safe and efficient operations of the City’s Landfill, Material Recycling Facility (MRF), Collection, and Scale, with the primary focus of the position on tasks relative to composting operations.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12, G.E.D. , or Mature High School Diploma;
• Must possess a valid and subsisting Class 3 with Air Endorsement Province of Manitoba driver’s license;
• Must hold and maintain a Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate or obtain within one (1) year of appointment;
• Must obtain Landfill Operating Basics (LOB) certification within one (1) year of appointment;
• Must obtain a Compost Facility Operator certification within one (1) year of appointment;
• Must have completed Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015) course or obtain within 6 months of appointment;
• Required to obtain and hold all certifications required by provincial regulations.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience operating equipment, such as various sized rubber tire front end loaders, end dump trucks, single and tandem axle trucks, refuse collection trucks, track dozers, excavator, rock truck, trash compactor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Degree in soil management, agriculture, or related field considered an asset.

Rate of Pay:
$25.30 – $27.15 per hour - 2018 rates.

Position Conditions: This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week. It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69.
