Farm Hand

Overview

The Farm Labourer is a part of the team at Diamond F Farms. Their work is multi-faceted and requires a willingness to help in many of the areas of Diamond F including livestock/sheep and lamb operations, farm machine operations, building maintenance, mechanics, yard maintenance, basic carpentry, truck driving and “handyperson” work. The work of the Farm Labourer, as with all roles at Diamond F, differs and is dependent on the season.
The ability to work independently, learn quickly and ask questions is important for the Farm Labourer. They must have strong communication skills and an openness to feedback. They must have a strong mechanical inclination and be willing to work as a team in all facets of the job. Common sense, time management, problem solving and a genuine interest in agriculture and growing things are also requirements of the Farm Labourer.
The best Farm Labourer is punctual, motivated and confident – they see the things that need to be done and they do them. They know and understand working in agriculture can be demanding, especially in peak seasons, and they are willing to work the long hours to ensure peak seasons result in successful operations.

Qualifications

A Class 1A driver’s license is preferred but not required. A willingness to complete the Class 1A driver program within a reasonable time frame, with support from Diamond F, is a requirement. Basic knowledge of farming, welding, machine repair and agricultural equipment is required.
The Diamond F team is one that promotes listening to others, gratitude, respecting opinions, a willingness to assist wherever needed, asking questions and not being afraid to speak up. Diamond F hosts teambuilding events like post-peak season celebrations and offer a health and dental benefit plan as well as other benefits and “perks”.
