Environmental Program Coordinator

Overview

To assist and manage projects to promote composting, soil health and food gardening
Among the tasks:
- Create and distribute promotional materials, posting on Social Media sites as well as Community Boards
- Assist in the daily farming requirements of food-growing research trial
- Help implement our Soil Health programs within the community, including SOIL SAFARI
- Assist within community gardens and other food-sharing opportunities where appropriate
- Other duties to be determined based on opportunity and time available

Qualifications

- Willing to work independently as well as part of a team
- Able to review projects and objectives and tasks and then implement with both supervision as well as independently
- Takes pride in task and responsibilities, willing to make an impact
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Computer skills (word, excel, powerpoint) as well as internet
- Interest in environmental issues and food gardening
This is a funded position for students
To be eligible, students must meet ALL criteria:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
• be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
