IT Systems Specialist

Overview

Based in Brandon and reporting to the Team Lead - Network Services, the IT Systems Specialist will be responsible to ensure that the compute infrastructure required to support the business needs of the organization is operationally efficient and demonstrates ‘best value’. The compute infrastructure includes servers, operating systems and related backend systems, software applications (OSS and BSS), virtual machines, storage system, firewalls, monitoring and ticketing system and all ancillary network services (DNS, DHCP, Web Proxy, TFTP etc.).

What you’ll do:
• Operate, manage, troubleshoot, and evolve the compute infrastructure using industry’s best practices.
• Document compute infrastructure, as-built and network diagrams, maintenance records etc.
• Monitor and analyze your technology area to ensure it is operating properly and efficiently.
• Conduct research and stay in touch with the latest developments in the service provider industry.
• Make recommendations for service and product improvement.
• Implement ecosystem changes in accordance with departmental change policy.
• Provide supervision and technical trainings to junior team members.
• Have a commitment towards an excellent customer experience.
• Interface with vendors, consultants, and service providers to improve product offerings and platform enhancements.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring to the team:
• 3 years’ experience in a network services field including hands-on experience with compute infrastructure (Unix based
servers, VMware, storage systems, firewalls, network services such as DNS, DHCP, TFTP, and Web proxies).
• Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, information systems or a closely related field.
• Minimum of one of the following certifications: Red Hat RHCE, VCP-NV, VCAP-NV Deployment, VCP-Cloud Management
and Automation, or CISSP.
• Thorough technical understanding and experience in managing enterprise level firewalls and gateway devices, VMware,
storage systems/clusters, and scripting languages (Bash, PHP, Perl, Python).
• Strong documentation skills, interpersonal (including both oral and written communication) skills, as well as diagnostic,
problem solving, and analytical skills.
